Leadership for Innovation
NEW 2 DAY PROGRAM - November 2011 Proudly sponsored by CSC
(Designed in conjunction with CSC, ResMed and CCH)
“These days one rarely gets time to take time out to focus on how to strengthen your management and innovation skills. This course has provided me the opportunity to assess and reflect on where and how to improve the skills I use to lead” – CSC
Successful leaders possess many skills, some of which may be inherent, but most have acquired their wisdom through a combination of personal experience, practical learning and the help and advice of others. In this program participants learn the differences between leadership and management and how to develop specific leadership skills that are important to all innovators and technical professionals. It addresses skills needed to lead cross-functional projects, drive thought leadership, and influence others in an innovation role or similar technical role. Participants engage in exercises that assess their individual leadership strengths and provide guidance for further skill development.
Marco Polo Executive Exchange Programme
Background
When Westpac first considered becoming a founding member of Hargraves Institute, this major Australian corporation saw opportunity in the collaboration network that would enable them to launch a new initiative. The innovation leaders at Westpac had been keen to establish an experience gathering executive exchange programme and asked Hargraves to develop this as a member service for all members to share. Westpac had already called their proposed programme the Marco Polo Initiative, and Hargraves Institute members agreed this would be a fitting title to adopt.

Increasing Performance and Impact through Positive Influencing
As the pace of business increases, achieving results and getting things done through others, as well as gaining commitment for your projects and deadlines is ever more challenging. This one day workshop teaches you communication and positive influencing skills that will increase your performance and impact when dealing with colleagues, bosses, customers, partners and suppliers. Positive influencing skills will help you to get people partnering and working with you towards your goals. The ability to adapt quickly and work with anyone to achieve desired results is crucial —especially when you don't have immediate authority to command their cooperation. At this workshop, you'll focus on the key elements of influencing others when there is lack of authority—using personal power, persuasion and negotiation.
Designed for: Do you:
• Rely on good relationships at work?
• Have a need to deliver results in situations where you need the cooperation and involvement of others?
• Want to increase employee engagement?
• Want to develop more personal impact?
This program is highly relevant for those who need to achieve results through other people over whom they have no direct authority; particularly those working in cross-functional groups or matrix teams including managers at all levels.
