Business Innovation Workshop

(Designed in conjunction with Roche Products, George Weston Foods, BlueScope Steel and Cochlear)

'Tools and skills to be an innovator and have your ideas accepted'

Business Innovation Workshops are designed to introduce participants to a wide range of innovation processes, models and techniques, and to show them how these can be applied in their work environment.

Innovation is often seen as being someone else’s responsibility, a role restricted to product development/R&D Departments. To remain competitive and sustainable in our rapidly changing world this is no longer good enough. Innovation has to be an expectation of all employees, no matter what role or function they have within the organisation.

Designed for:
• Organisations that want innovative contributions across all of their employees and functions.
• Individuals that want to better understand how they can be innovative and contribute to their company’s future success.

Design Led Innovation

Design Led Innovation - A strategic approach to lead the market  (Created by Queensland University of Technology)

Open up any leading business publication and there is often an article discussing the role and value of design as a driver of innovation. But is design led innovation anything new or is it the latest buzz term hovering around the innovation landscape?  Design is increasingly an influencing element in product success or failure but design is not only about the product itself.  Being Design led means having a culture that recognises Design as an integral part of strategy, organisational behaviour, product innovation, market development and customer interaction. Design is an integral part of the factors shaping the future of company, market and innovative new product development.

This hands-on workshop will take you on a journey of what is required to transform your company into being design led.

X-Teams

NEW PROGRAM   (By Michael Schrage of MIT and in resonse to a member request from Bank of Queensland)

X-team is a fundamentally different approach as it delivers a program that is uniquely designed around your executives and organisation’s needs.  By combining executive and organisational development with productivity and change, X-team delivers a program of engaging activities for future leaders in complex organisations.  Designed by Michael Schrage of MIT and Allan Ryan of the Hargraves Institute, X-team programs included leading academic institutions and industry experts to deliver a hands-on, practical experience that delivers new ideas that will easily align with your corporate goals.

Each X-team program is customised to individual organisational or department objectives, goals and internal programs. Programs are integrated into the work procedures, locations and staffing requirements ensuring minimal disruption and maximum contributions from all participants, sponsors and executives involved.

People involved with the X-team include a program sponsor, relevant executive leaders and participants sponsors as well as participants themselves. Program delivery includes facilitators, coaches, academics and industry experts specially selected to deliver the specific program outcomes.  X-team projects are typically ‘hothouse’ environments that test the participants with real issues and presentations of ideas to executive leaders as part of the normal course of business initiatives.

Systematic Innovation (TRIZ)

(Sourced by Cochlear)

This systematic creativity process consists of four major steps: problem definition, selecting appropriate solution routes, generating solutions and evaluating and selecting the most appropriate course of action. This tool is based on three principles:

  1. Problems and solutions were repeated across industries and sciences
  2. Patterns of technical evolution were repeated across industries and sciences
  3. Innovations used scientific effects outside the field where they were developed
