Hargraves Process Innnovation Fellowship - Feb 2012

Process Innovation Fellowship Meeting hosted by Resmed

On the 7th of February, the Process Innovation group met at ResMed and were given an introduction to sleep apnoea and the role that ResMed is playing in raising awareness and educating medical practitioners as to what’s available to non surgically address this growing health condition.

Brian Movrin and his team then took us through there continuous improvement process where under the banner of 20% Advantage, they challenged their organisation in all functions to improve their efficiency by 20% without spending any $s. The other criteria was that the project had to be completed within 30 days.  This drive was led from within a department by Continuous Improvement Champions who have a mentor assigned to them for support tools. The target was to have 1 event per department completed in the month and measurement of participation was made by identifying the number of different people in the department submitting ideas. These two targets are displayed throughout the factory as are photos of successful teams so that there is a very high visibility as to what is being achieved by all functions across the operation on a National / International level.

The work that they have done on Value Stream Mapping across their support functions was of considerable interest as it has enabled them to streamline their administration process.  By  simple initiatives undertaken by those in the Value Chain they have not only created efficiencies and time-savings, but have also made the process far more enjoyable and satisfying.
